Lady Lions shut down Lady Elks, then lose two games by one

GRAVETTE -- After an overwhelming 15-0 shutout of the Lady Elks on Monday, March 6, the Lady Lions couldn't quite get it done in games against Bentonville West and Farmington, losing both games by one run.

The Lady Lions scored 15 runs in 11 hits in the game against Elkins. Cally Kildow pitched for three innings and struck out six Elkins batters.

On March 7, the Lady Lions visited the Lady Wolverines of Bentonville West, and lost in the bottom of the seventh when Bentonville West drove in a single runner who made it on due to a center fielder's error.

Gravette's only run was scored when Lexi Gerner walked and was advanced and brought home by Emily Ellis and Gabbi Curtis singles and a Keeley Bulza sacrifice fly to left field.

Kildow was on the mound for Gravette and struck out 11 batters, walking just one.

The Lady Lions were down by one at the end of the first, tied at one in the top of the fourth, down again by one in the bottom of the fifth, up by one in the top of the sixth, tied at three in the bottom of the sixth and tied at four runs each after seven. Then, in an extra inning, Gravette was shut out and Farmington scored one to put the Lady Lions down, 5-4, in the bottom of the eighth.

Bailey Elmore led Gravette with her bat, getting two hits and two RBIs. She hit a solo home run in the fourth for Gravette. Lindsey Sharp picked up two RBIs and one hit in the game.

Cally Kildow pitched all eight innings for Gravette, striking out six and walking two.
