— A house at 503 Atlanta Street, S.E., suffered extensive damage last Wednesday morning when a dump truck loaded with 17 tons of gravel left the roadway and crashed into the front of the home. The driver of the truck, Russell Hutchings of Pierce City, Mo., suffered a medical emergency while driving and briefly lost consciousness, according to police.

Hutchings was driving east on Highway 72 and left the roadway at the intersection of Arkansas Highway 72 and Fourth Avenue, S.W. He struck a fence before hitting a tree. Then, the dump truck plowed into the front of the home. It struck a bedroom on the northwest corner of the home before coming to rest at the front door of the residence.

There was no one home at the time of the accident. Two dogs inside the home were unharmed.

The dump truck was removed from the residence by Decatur Salvage. Hutchings was checked by Gravette Fire Department paramedics and released.
