— More than 50 people attended the Gentry Public Library's Spring Fling Boredom Buster on Thursday.

Mark Smithson, Gentry's code enforcement and animal control officer, discussed pet care, while his dog companion, Lizzy, entertained her audience. He thanked the group for their contributions of dog treats and blankets.

The Bloomfield 4-H club assisted Cecil Savage in conducting a mock stained-glass art class. Burgeoning artists used markers and paint to "stain" 5x7 clear glass panels with pictures of flowers, cars, puppies and kittens. The mock stained-glass crafts were outlined, sealed and taken home by the crafters.

Several children participated in the Bookface contest. Each child selected a book to use as a mask, and the masks were judged on creativity. "The Way I Feel" mask won a library book bag and several workbooks.

The Bloomfield 4-H Club served hot dogs and chips before the Gentry Girl Scouts hosted a viewing of the movie, "The Secret Life of Pets." The Girl Scouts treated the movie-goers to popcorn and more hot dogs.

Library employees thanked the Bloomfield 4-H, Gentry Girl Scouts, Gentry Public Schools, Cecil Savage, Siloam Glass and the others who contributed to this enjoyable afternoon.
