DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldog soccer team played its final three matches of the 2017 season, beginning with an away match at Prairie Grove May 2 and ending with two home matches on May 4 and 6.

The Bulldogs traveled south to make up an April 2 match which was called after 2 minutes of play due to severe lightning in the area. The weather was much more cooperative on May 2. But, with 10 minutes left in the first half, Prairie Grove put in a back-to-back goals for a 2-0 lead. The Tigers went on to take a 9-0 victory.

The Bulldogs returned home May 4 to take on the Green Forest Tigers at Bulldog Stadium. The Tigers had a 5-0 lead going into the second half and hit seven more goals for a 12-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

In the final match of the 2017 season, a rare Saturday afternoon match against the Lead Hill Tigers at Bulldog Stadium, Lead Hill was late because the team's bus had broken down in Gentry. Once the Lead Hill team had arrived, a new problem surfaced, no referees. Since all attempts at finding referees for the contest failed, both James Garner and the Lead Hill coach decided to call it a tie and have a scrimmage match. The two coaches acted as referees during the match.

The game ended with Decatur taking the unofficial victory, 9-0, putting an end to the 2017 season with a 2-9 overall record.
