Several officers from the Benton County Sheriff's Office came to Glenn Duffy Elementary the morning of May 1. In recognition of staff appreciation week, the officers welcomed teachers and students at all entrances of the school. They also provided school staff with a generous donation of doughnuts and remained onsite to assist with the school assembly. Participating from the sheriff's department were Sergeant Jenkins, Sergeant Johnston, Corporal Calzada, Deputy Lara, Deputy Frischman, Megan Rutledge, Miranda Boothe, Sergeant Banta and Deputy Collins.

"This is a great way for the school to partner with the community to serve our children," said Zane Vanderpool, prinicpal at the elementary school. "We certainly appreciate their service."

The character word for this month is Perseverance. This is defined as continuing with a job until it's done. Sergeant Johnston shared a story of how a trainer can try different ways to get animals to do things for people. He described how important it is for us not to give up because of challenges. As the story says, "Let us not stop trying just for the fear of failure. Let perseverance be our driving force."
