'The Walking Man' is also 'The Library Man'

— Rick Herron, sometimes known around town as "The Walking Man," should really be known as "The Library Man."

Often during his daily walks, Rick comes into the library. He reads the newspaper, accesses the world through the public computers and indulges his passion for history with the library's selection of nonfiction chronicles. But the main reason he should be known as "The Library Man" is because of the generous monetary contributions he makes to the Gentry Public Library.

Rick has given to the library many times. He earmarked his most recent contribution specifically for the purchase of books for the library, which library director Darla Threet was delighted to do.

The library's books, books on tape, DVDs and ebooks access are all purchased through the generous contributions of patrons like "The Library Man" and the Friends of the Library.

The library sincerely thanks Rick and others who support our mission of "providing a vital gathering place that informs and inspires."

Others interested in contributing should come to the library at 105 East Main Street, Gentry, visit us online at librarygentry.us, or call us at 479-736- 2054.
