Lions Golf Classic raises more than $7,000

GRAVETTE -- The annual Lions Golf Classic was held Saturday, May 6, at Scotsdale Golf Course in Bella Vista. More than $7,000 was raised to benefit various programs at Gravette High School, including drama, vocal music, instrumental music, athletics, cheerleading, academic awards and the arts.

John Edwards, one of the event organizers, reported that 96 golfers participated in the tournament and 36 sponsors helped provide prizes for the event.

Final results reported for the tournament were: Men's Division, Flight A -- First place (57), Matt Busch, Brad Busch, Tyler Busch, Bret Gentz; Second place (59), Bill Hayford, Larry Hayford, Brian Kensworthy, Doug Moore; Third place (60) Jason Loyd, Jeff Hendren, Joe Martinez, Harl Pike.

Flight B -- First place (64), Paul Hively, Jim Roe, Greg Ballard, Eddie Tutt; Second place (66), Randy Blackstrom, Pat Bodishbaugh, Jeff Hannah, Justin Nicklas; Third place (66) Van VanderSchaaf, Rex Butler, Jeff Singleton, Dee Wresche.

Flight C -- First place (69), Jim Britton, Jose Mendoza, Nate Obenshain, Nate McGarrah; Second place (70), Jerry Foster, Maurice King, Nathan Foster, Evan Foster; Third place (70), Fred Albitz, Don Velo, Bruce Griffith, Ted Givens.

Women's Division -- First place, Ann Millard, Sonja Pohl, Sharon Drake, Maureen Getter.

Mixed Division, Flight A -- First place (57), Darryl Muldoon, Andrea Muldoon, Ardoin Kendall, Braxton Muldoon.

Flight B -- First place (64), Jim Westcott, Bev Westcott, Willard Sadler, Iris Gruwell.

Flight C -- First place (66), Jim Moeller, Gerri Moeller, G. Lynn Manske, Lynn Manske.

There was no winner in the closest to the pin contest for women. Braxton Muldoon won the prize for closest to the pin in the men's division.

Ardoin Kendall won the prize for longest drive for women, and Braxton Muldoon won the prize for longest drive in the men's division.
