Boys and Girls Club receives grant from Walmart Foundation

WESTSIDE -- The Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County recently received a grant in the amount of $74,000 from the Walmart Foundation to provide youth greater access to summer and afterschool programs provided by the Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County.

The Boys and Girls Club is committed to increasing its positive impact in Western Benton County by making afterschool and summer programs more accessible to children and their families. These programs enhance the quality of life for both children and their families by, not only providing youth access to a safe place, caring adults and recreational activities, but by allowing parents to work with the peace of mind that their children are being cared for and protected. These funds significantly offset program fees and give families better accessibility to the Boys and Girls Club afterschool and summer programs. These programs, both recreational and educational, fulfill a need for both parents and their children in communities along the Highway 59 corridor.

"We are honored the Walmart Foundation has chosen to continue its support of the work we do. This grant will allow us to continue providing families who need us most access to quality summer and afterschool programs," said Chris Shimer, chief executive officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County.
