Maysville EH Club News

The Maysville Extension Homemakers Club met at the Community Building on May 25. Robin Reichardt was the hostess for the meal. President Wardlaw called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. We were glad to have Sherry Summerfield join us.

Melinda Crawley led the song entitled "The Astronaut's Plea." Gwen read a prayer entitled "A Teacher's Sleepless Sunday Night."

Bert Ballman gave a helpful hint on keeping barn swallows from building a nest on your porch. Spray some old perfume and it will prevent them from coming back. Gwen Singleton showed a picture cloth made by Hmong people.

Gwen gave the lesson on "staycations." A "staycation" is an alternative to the traditional vacation. "Staycationers" stay at home or close to home and enjoy local, regional or state attractions. Arkansas has many museums, parks, amusement parks, festivals, concerts, theaters and other activities that you can choose from. Another alternative to "staycations" is to stay at home and do fun things -- there's no place like home!

Minutes and treasurers reports were given by the secretary, and volunteer and meeting attendance records were turned in.

Robin Reichardt gave a report on the community yard sale.

We finalized plans for the spring fundraiser dinner on May 26. Orpha gave an update on Maysville Day plans. Nikki Crawley will get ice cream for the club to sell. Maysville Day will be June 17. County Fun Day will be June 29. Jewel Crawley gave a report on the Always Save labels. We would be glad to have others save their Always Save labels for us as we redeem them for cash. The meeting was adjourned with the benediction.
