GRAVETTE -- Gravette City Council passed an ordinance at its regular meeting Oct. 26 approving a tract split for property owned by the Coughlin Family LLC on Galyean Stables Road. A public hearing was held at the beginning of the meeting to consider the action, with no one present to comment.

The Council also accepted a recommendation by Tim Dewitt, Gravette's Streets and Parks Department supervisor, and approved a bid of $74,530 from Electrical Resources for the Hiwasse Community Center remodel project. Electrical Resources was the low bidder on the project and comes with a list of references provided by BiLD Architects.

In other business at the meeting, council members approved a bid of $350 from Thomas Fence to repair a section of Wayne Dircks' fence adjacent Pop Allum Park. The fence was damaged by city workers mowing at the park.

Purchase of a Bobcat skid steer loader and attachments, with money taken from capital improvement fund, was approved. Also approved was putting out of service the city's TS100 New Holland tractor and side-boom brush hog. The tractor and brush hog will be traded in on the skid steer loader at a trade-in value of $24,000. Cost of the skid steer loader after trade-in will be $41,538. The attachments will be used for brush hogging, snow removal and street sweeping.

Resolutions were passed approving budget adjustments of $121,800 for FEMA projects, $15,000 for increasing salaries for the park department and $100,000 for reimbursable bond expense for the water department fund. Adjustments were also approved reflecting a $1,000 Maker Space donation for the library and a $7,678.08 trauma grant for the fire department.

Kurt Maddox, Gravette mayor, announced that council members would begin going over department budgets at the Nov. 9 committee of the whole meeting, and he urged all involved to be sure to attend.
