— Plans are shaping up for the annual city of Gravette Christmas parade. The theme for this year's parade is "Dreaming of a White Christmas." The parade will make its way down Main Street Saturday, Dec. 2, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Parade lineup will begin at 3:45 at the Civic Center. The parade route begins at the Civic Center, goes north on First, east on Main and south on Sixth, ending near the school. The parade route is about a mile long.

There is no charge to participate in the parade. Anyone desiring to enter a float, walking group or horse entry in the parade can find an entry blank on the city's website or come by city hall to report an intention to participate. Entry forms should be completed and returned to city hall by Friday, Dec. 1. Santa Claus will be riding on a fire truck to conclude the parade and other Santa entries are prohibited.

Before the parade, at 3:30 p.m., there will be an open house at the Gravette Public Library on Main Street. Hot spiced cider will be served, and there will be a holiday craft for the youngsters.

Immediately after the parade, beginning about 5 p.m., there will be an open house at the Gravette historical museum with several activities planned. Free hot dogs and buns are being donated by the Bank of Gravett, members of the Church of Christ will be serving hot chocolate and cookies will be provided by several area churches, including the First Christian Church, Heritage Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church. The Gravette Police Department and the Gravette Fire Department have organized a chili cook-off and samples of chili will be available for tasting. Samples will be free but tasters may vote for their favorite chili by making a cash donation.

Members of the National Honor Society will be helping the children with holiday crafts. The Perfect Harmony singing group will be singing carols. A bonfire will be burning in the backyard for those who would like to warm themselves at the fireside.

"Mr. and Mrs. Kindley" will be hosting tours of the museum again this year. Santa Claus will also be on hand to listen to children's wishes and will have candy treats for each one.
