WATTS, Okla. -- Coming off of their first win of the season, the Decatur Lady Bulldogs hoped to make it two in a row as they traveled to Watts, Okla., to take on the Lady Engineers in a nonconference matchup Nov. 14.

The Lady Bulldogs got into trouble from the opening tip-off, in which they gained control of the ball. Watts immediately tied up the ball causing another jump ball and giving Watts the possession. The Lady Engineers scored the first two points of the contest on the mistake. And, from then on, Decatur dropped behind. By quarter's end, Watts held a 16-6 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs regained their composure during the second quarter and outscored the Lady Engineers, 19-14, to close the gap to five, with Watts up only 30-25 at the break.

Coach Ashley Riggles changed up her game plan further in the second half with positive results. Decatur managed to stay with Watts and was down only 42-36 by the end of the third quarter. But Watts pulled ahead of Decatur by as much as 20 points early in the final quarter.

A late rally by the Lady Bulldogs shaved eight points off of Watts' lead but it was too late to help and the Watts Lady Engineers took the win, 59-47, over the Decatur Lady Bulldogs

Leading scorer for the second week in a row was Samantha Skaggs, with 18, followed by Paige Vann, with 17. Deysi Rubi added 5 points to the scoring effort, followed by Jacqueline Herrera with 3, Abigail Tilley with 2, and Destiny Mejia with 1.

The Lady Bulldogs junior high team also lost to the Lady Engineers junior high team, 22-6, in an earlier contest.
