Pioneers get past Tigers, fall to Eagles

GENTRY -- The Gentry boys basketball team grabbed the lead early and hung on to defeat the visiting Green Forest Tigers by the close score of 60-56 on Nov. 14 at Gentry High School.

The Pioneers were up 10-4 at the end of the first quarter and 32-22 at the half. Though Green Forest picked up 17 points in each of the final quarters, Gentry's 12 and 16 were enough to hang on to the lead and gain the victory.

Leading the scoring for Gentry were seniors Ethan Hammond with 19 points and Logan Linton with 14. Juniors Dylan Kilgore and Christian Waddell had eight points each in the game. Hammond hit three 3-pointers in the game.

The Gentry Pioneers started strong in the opening minutes of their game against the visiting Huntsville Eagles on Friday night, but they were unable to maintain their control of the game and came up short, 60-39, by the end of four quarters.
