Gentry Public Library to hold celebration

GENTRY -- The Gentry Public Library and the Gentry Public Library Association will host a public reception on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 20, in celebration of both the library's 10th anniversary in the refurbished Carl Hardware Store and the intermittent existence for more than a century of a lending library in the city.

Finger foods and refreshments will be provided and served by the McKee Foods Corporation in the McKee Community Room from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy discussions with local authors, view displays of Gentry historical photographs, bid on silent-auction gift basket and craft raffles, and tour the library and its many local artifacts.

The silent-auction items can be viewed at the Gentry Public Library on Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m to noon. Many of the items are in public view in the front windows of the library.

Please join current and past library board members and library staff in celebration of Architect Marlon Blackwell building design and the Gentry Public Library.
