DECATUR --It was the homecoming game for the Decatur Bulldogs as they played host to their conference rival, the JC Westside Rebels, at Bulldog Stadium in Decatur on Friday.

Westside scored first on a run by Alex Xiong. The point after was blocked by Decatur, making it a 6-0 ballgame. The Rebels continued to build their score through the remainder of the first quarter on touchdowns by Gunner Williams, Tanner Bryant, Chris Xiong and Alex Xiong, and a two-point conversion by Jaron Estep.

Decatur's only score came at the four-minute mark when Taylor Haisman caught a pass from quarterback Cayden Bingham at the Rebel 40-yard line. Haisman scrabbled 40 yards for the touchdown. The Bulldogs tried for a conversion but failed. The quarter ended with the Rebels on top, 28-6, over the Bulldogs.

Westside dominated the second quarter, holding Decatur scoreless and adding to its total on touchdown plays by Estep and Bryant and another conversion by Kyler Stumbaugh to end the half, 43-6.

It was a defensive game the second half, with both teams effectively shutting down their opponents' scoring attempts. The only score in the final half came midway through the fourth quarter on a quarterback keeper by Westside's Stumbaugh. The point after was good.

The final score was the Westside Rebels, 50, and the Decatur Bulldogs, 6.

In the junior-high game, played prior to the homecoming coronation ceremony, the Bulldogs defeated the Rebels, 24-8. Carlos Hernandez scored two touchdowns, and Roger Hernandez scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion. Andres Revolorio also scored a conversion. Decatur was able to score on another conversion after its third and final touchdown.
