GENTRY -- On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Gentry Pioneer Pride Marching Band competed in the War Eagle Classic at Rogers Heritage High School and won first place in Class B, along with High Music, High Marching, and High Percussion. The band also qualified for the finals competition and won second Place.
Bands competing in the preliminary competition included: Class B -- Gentry, Greenland, West Fork, Catoosa (Okla.), Green Forest; Class C -- Farmington, Pea Ridge; Class D -- Prairie Grove; Class E -- Ozark (Mo.), Alma, Rogers High School, and Springdale High School.
In the finals (the seven top-scoring bands from preliminaries were selected to perform at finals), Ozark (Mo.) finished in first, Gentry in second, Alma third, Catoosa (Okla) fourth, Rogers fifth, Pea Ridge sixth and Green Forest seventh.
The Gentry band also performed at the ASBOA Region VI Marching Assessment at Rogers, High School and received superior ratings from all three judges and qualified for the ASBOA State Marching Contest Oct. 30 in Little Rock.
The band is directed by Karri Wesson.
