Lions have big win over Eagles

— The Gravette Lions scored three touchdowns in the opening quarter of play when they traveled to Huntsville on Friday and built on that lead throughout the game to give them a 62-28 win.

Tajae White ran for four touchdowns and passed for another in 4A-1 Conference action. The Lions (4-4, 3-2) also got a big game from running back Austin O'Brien who had more than 200 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Brandon Ballard caught a touchdown pass from White for the Lions and Bailey Soule' carried one across. Chris Childress put eight kicking points on the board.

Huntsville quarterback Sean McCone had three touchdown passes, and the Eagles had a fumble return for a touchdown.

O'Brien had 256 rushing yards in the game, and White had 187, with the Lions totaling 473 rushing yards, with another 75 yards through the air.

On the defensive side, O'Brien had two interceptions. Soule' sacked the Eagle's quarterback twice, and Colton Grimes and Seth Spencer each brought him down once. Kenton Tajchman had 11 tackles in the game -- four solos and seven assists. Spencer had five solo tackles.

The Lions host the Shiloh Christian Saints at 7 p.m. on Friday in Lion Stadium. They travel to Gentry on Nov. 3.
