Gentry golfers play in back-to-back matches

GENTRY -- The Gentry golf teams traveled to Berryville on Aug. 28 to play their first match of the week at the Carroll County Country Club. It was a rough day for the Lady Pioneers, as Lynzey Sikes (12) was on her own for the day and scored a 105.

Because Sikes was the only player for the Lady Pioneers in the match, there wasn't a team score.

The Pioneers came in second, with a total score of 453. Clancy Milam (9) ended the day with a score of 124. Wayne Lee (10) had a total score of 119, and Matthew Roberts (10) scored a 105. Mason Coleman (12) had a total score of 105. It wasn't their best match, but they look forward to improvement in future matches.

The Gentry team hosted a golf match at the Creeks the next day, Aug. 29. Lauren Folger (11) and Sikes both played for the Lady Pioneers. Folger finished with a total score of 61. Sikes finished, scoring a 62. Again, there was no team score, nor were the girls eligible for placing.

As for the Pioneers, they came in a few points shy from placing. Even though the outcome wasn't ideal, overall, they played well.

Coleman had a total score of 50, Dalton Evans (11) had a total score of 56, Lee had a total score of 60, Milam had a total score of 66, and Roberts had a total score of 67. Because Lee and Milam's scores were not counted, the Pioneers finished the day off with an overall score of 158.
