Billy V. Hall Center to hold open house

GRAVETTE -- The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center will hold an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. The event, to be held at the center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road, is in honor of Senior Citizen Month, according to Center director Melissa Steele.

Steele and the Center staff invite all in the area to attend and enjoy refreshments and music provided by the Light Keepers.

"We are trying to reach out to the community to bring new people into the Center and let them know we are here," Steele said. The open house is for everyone in the communities the Center serves, she pointed out. These include Gravette, Sulphur Springs, Decatur,

Several free health screenings will be offered at the event, including blood-sugar and blood-pressure checks by Sue Rice and Snooky Garrett, vision screenings by Gravette Eye Clinic, and hearing screenings by Natural Hearing Centers. Several area businesses and organizations will also be on hand with information, including Air Evac, Gravette Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and Bank of Gravett.

Representatives from Schmieding Center for Senior Health and the Area Agency on Aging will be present to answer questions about Medicare open enrollment, services they provide and job placement for in-home care. SALT of Benton County, which cosponsored the recent Coffee With a Cop at the center, will send representatives with information about senior safety.

Natural Hearing Centers representatives will be back Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 2 and 3, with more advanced equipment to do more extensive testing for those who desire it. The services will include free hearing tests, free checks for earwax, and free hearing aid cleanings. People may call 888-337-6758 if interested.
