Gravette farmers market to open April 21

GRAVETTE -- Beth Patton, co-manager of the Gravette farmers market, has announced the market will open for the 2018 season this Saturday, April 21. Hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through November, or until the first frost. Market vendors will be set up in the market pavilion in Old Town Park, just east of downtown on Arkansas Highway 72.

Patton and her husband Jack, market co-manager Evelyn McGraw and Paul Mahon will be among the returning vendors. Regular vendors will offer a variety of locally-grown produce, including fresh vegetables and fruits, garden plants and flowers, farm-raised pork, grass-fed Angus beef, eggs, jams and jellies, honey and baked goods. Gayle Williams, of Williams Woodcrafts, will be on hand selling her handmade pens and other craft items, and other craft vendors are expected to participate.

Market vendors will take WIC vouchers and senior farmers market produce coupons in payment for qualified purchases.

Members of the Old Town String Band have announced they will be on hand to play on most Saturdays. Other musicians will be scheduled occasionally.

Patton said she is still seeking vendors and persons with activities they would like to include in the market program. Prospective vendors who have not yet signed up to operate a booth may participate by contacting Beth Patton, 479-787-3313.
