GENTRY -- Chastery Fuamatu, a senior from Gentry High School, took first in the women's shot put and discus at the Pioneer Relays in Gentry on Thursday. She threw the shot 39 feet, five inches -- 10 feet, four inches further than the second-place throw; and she threw the discus 122 feet, 10 inches -- 46 feet further than her nearest competitor.
Clark Mason, a Gentry senior, took first in the discus with a throw of 145 feet, 2 inches -- almost 20 feet past the second-place throw.
Other local athletes taking golds included Aidan Patton of Gravette in the shot put and Dayten Wishon of Gravette in the high jump.
In team scores, the Gentry boys finished second, and Gravette fourth. Decatur finished 10th. On the girls' side, the Gravette girls finished in fourth, Decatur in sixth and Gentry in eighth.
