Annual spring cleanup scheduled April 30 to May 4

GRAVETTE -- The annual spring cleanup for the city of Gravette is scheduled for the week of Monday, April 30, through Friday, May 4. City officials have announced that free self-service dumpsters will be available at the city shop from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the park in Hiwasse during daylight hours. Dumpsters are for use by Gravette residents only and may be used for items too large to be picked up during the regular weekly trash pickup.

Dumpsters will be located at the city shop, 801 Plant Access Rd. S.W., in Gravette, and at the Hiwasse Park, 13690 Fire House Lane, in Hiwasse. Mallory Weaver, mayor's assistant, emphasized that the dumpsters are self-serve only. No one will be available to help load or unload items.

No tires, electronics, flammable liquids, paint or coolant will be accepted.

Weaver pointed out that if a person is unable to bring items for disposal during spring cleanup days, other disposal options are available. Republic, the city's trash hauler, offers free bulky-item pickup as part of its services. One large item may be placed at curbside each week, but the customer must call to schedule a pickup. Call Republic, 1-800-627-1717, to take advantage of this service.

Tree limbs and other yard waste can be disposed of at no charge at the city shop during normal business hours. Other unwanted debris may be disposed of at a charge of $30 a pickup load or $60 a trailer load. Arrangements may be made at City Hall for this service.

Benton County Solid Waste District offers several drop-off locations in the area, and there is no charge for most items. Call 479-795-0751 for more information.
