Brigance inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, receives ministries award

WALNUT RIDGE -- The history department at Williams Baptist College has inducted Brandon Brigance of Gentry into the Alpha Zeta Xi chapter of the national Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. The ceremony was held on March 28 at the Wings of Honor World War II Museum in Walnut Ridge.

Students selected for Phi Alpha Theta are in the top tier of their universities and must maintain no less than a 3.1 GPA in at least 12 hours of history coursework and a 3.0 minimum GPA overall.

Brigance was also presented the 2018 H.L. Waters Christian Ministries Award at WBC. The award, named after a veteran pastor, home missionary and first religion professor at WBC, is the highest academic award given by the Christian ministries department. Brigance was selected for the award by the Christian ministries faculty at Williams based on his academic achievement in the field.

The honor was presented at WBC's Academic Awards Banquet on April 12.

Brigance is a senior at WBC majoring in Christian ministries. He is the son of Scott and Michelle Brigance of Gentry.

Williams is a Christian, liberal arts university in Walnut Ridge. It will become Williams Baptist University in July of 2018.
