Lady Bulldogs lose two at home

DECATUR -- The Decatur girls continued to search for their second win of the soccer season when they faced the Huntsville Lady Eagles April 9 and the Danville Lady Little Johns April 10 at Bulldog Stadium, but it was not to be. The Lady Bulldogs added two more losses to their overall record.

In the Huntsville match, the Lady Bulldogs were able to shut down the Lady Eagle attack on the goal in the first half. But they were unable to utilize this to their advantage, and the first half ended with a 0-0 stalemate.

Decatur went on the offensive several times during the second half, but the Lady Eagles' experienced goalkeeper foiled the Lady Bulldog attacks on the net.

Two quick goals by Huntsville late in the second half gave the Lady Eagles a 2-0 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs continued their struggles the following night when they faced the Danville Little Johns.

Danville scored two in the first half and six in the second to take an 8-0 lead over Decatur. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest, the Lady Bulldogs denied Danville the shutout with a goal by Martiza Matul. Danville took the win, 8-1.

Past Games

It was an uphill battle for the Decatur girls April 2 when they faced a more seasoned Lady Tigers' team on the soccer field at Bulldog Stadium. And, when they traveled to Berryville April 5, they met the Lady Bobcats, resulting in a second loss that week for the fledgling Lady Bulldogs.

Prairie Grove controlled the entire first half, scoring four goals ,while shutting down Decatur's offensive line. Deily Godoy was able to make five saves, preventing a Lady Tiger blowout in the first half.

Airbus Dungsungnoen debuted as goalkeeper in the second half and made two saves but gave up three goals.

Trailing by seven, Decatur faced the prospect of yet another shutout. But, late in the half, Letty Fuentes and Dania Uribe put in a pair of goals to deny Prairie Grove the shutout. The Lady Tigers took the win, 7-2, over the Lady Bulldogs.

In the April 5 match with Berryville, the Lady Bobcats scored seven times in the first half and two in the second to take a 9-0 shutout victory over the Decatur Lady Bulldogs.
