GENTRY -- Gentry's annual Christmas Parade is set for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored parade theme is "Christmas Around the World."

Lineup (at Railroad Avenue and Main Street) begins at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. and will proceed west down Gentry's Main Street to the city park area.

This year's theme is "Christmas Around the World," and parade entries are encouraged to reflect that theme as much as possible. Parade entries need not preregister but should line up at 5:30 p.m. Gentry-buck prizes will be given for best use of lights, best music, best use of theme and overall winner.

In addition, Santa Claus will be at the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office, 212 East Main Street, for visits and photos with children from 3 to 5 p.m. Santa will also make an appearance in the parade.

For more information on the parade and special activities in Gentry on Saturday, please contact the Gentry Chamber of Commerce at 479-736-2358 or [email protected].

Decatur's Christmas Parade will be held on Friday at 6 p.m., starting by the car wash at Third and Main Streets and ending in Veterans Park, where there will be a lighting of the memorial tree and, weather permitting, Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with children following the parade in the new chicken shack.

This year's theme is "I'll be Home for Christmas."
