Bulldogs lose two games to rival Highlanders

DECATUR -- Coming off of a tough loss to the Omaha Eagles Jan. 30, the Decatur Bulldogs were once again at home Jan 31. for the first of a two-game series with an old rival, the Eureka Springs Highlanders, in a non-conference matchup.

In game one played in Decatur, the Bulldogs had trouble getting the ball to go into the basket and the Highlanders built a nine-point lead by the end of the first half.

Both teams had trouble sinking shots in the second half, with the Bulldogs and the Highlanders point totals into single digits in the third and fourth quarters. Ultimately, the advantage went to the Eureka Springs Highlanders as they took the win over the Decatur Bulldogs, 40-12.

In the second game played in Eureka Springs, Decatur held an 8-3 lead in first quarter. But the Highlanders went on an offensive run, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-4 by halftime. Eventually the Eureka Springs Highlanders overpowered the Decatur Bulldogs to take the second victory, 50-28.
