BENTONVILLE -- A Gentry man was arrested Jan. 31 in connection with sex crimes involving three girls.

Donald Adams, 42, was being held Friday in the Benton County Jail on a $255,000 bond.

He was arrested in connection with two counts of rape, sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance.

Detectives with the Benton County Sheriff's Office are handling the investigation.

Adams was arrested Jan. 26 in connection with domestic battery. He was accused of hitting a 16-year-old girl with a violin bow, and the girl claimed Adams shot her in the back with a BB gun, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The girl told deputies Adams had been raping her since she was 13 years old, according to the affidavit.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County. The investigation also involved a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl. Both said Adams abused them, according to the affidavit.

Deputies went to arrest Adams on Wednesday and he barricaded himself in a closet and held a knife to his neck and chest, according to the affidavit. He eventually gave up and was taken out of the house by a SWAT team. He was crying and holding a Teddy Bear and cell phone, according to the affidavit.

Adams' arraignment is scheduled for March 12 in Circuit Judge Brad Karren's court.
