Spaghetti supper fundraiser

A cake walk and spaghetti supper fundraiser will be held Friday, Feb. 23, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. The cake walk will begin at 5 p.m. and the spaghetti supper will follow immediately after the cake walk. Meals include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, drink and dessert. All proceeds go to the center's Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville.

"Have a Heart" campaign

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is conducting its "Have a Heart" campaign during the month of February. Funds are being collected to help give the gift of food to homebound seniors who might not otherwise be able to afford a meal. Persons may donate by mailing funds to Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, P.O. Box 1648, Gravette, AR 72736, or by dropping them by the Center at 1870 Limekiln Road. $15 will feed one senior for a week, $30 for two weeks. Meals are $3 each. Donors may specify a senior recipient if they choose.

Gravette Chamber of Commerce banquet

The Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce will hold its fifth annual community banquet from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Horton Farms, 15772 Bethlehem Road in Gravette. Tickets are $40 per person or $280 for a table of eight and may be purchased at Ozarks Community Hospital, Bank of Gravett and Arvest Bank. Gentry planning annual chamber banquet

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant. Tickets are $25 each. The program includes a meal and, then, awards to local businesses and residents. Tickets may be purchased by calling 479-736-2358, or reserved by email at [email protected]. Nominations are being accepted for Volunteer of the Year, Organization of the Year, Business of the Year, Shining Light Award (for a young person who goes above and beyond to make Gentry a great place to live), and Lifetime Achievement Award (for a longtime Gentry resident -- living or deceased -- who has dedicated his or her life's work to the city and the people of Gentry). Free GED prep classes

Free classes to prepare people for taking the GED exam are being offered through May 11 at the Gravette Public Library. Classes will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evenings only, at the library, 119 Main Street S.E. Interested persons may enroll by calling 479-986-6911 or by attending the class. Classes are open enrollment. Students may start anytime and finish when they are ready.

Diabetic Nutrition Class is Feb. 20

Heart-to-Heart with Dr. Harp set for Feb. 21

Join Dr. E. Beth Harp, of Siloam Springs Family Medicine, at 12:15 p.m. Feb. 21, inside Siloam Springs Regional Hospital's Classroom 1 for a talk on how to keep your heart healthy. Cardiac Risk Assessment is Feb. 22

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital's Healthy Community program will offer a free cardiac risk assessment to community members ages 18 and older from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22 inside SSRH's Classroom 2. The assessment will be by appointment only and will include personal history (age, gender, height, weight, etc.), oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure and body mass index. In addition to the assessment, information on heart health, diabetes, nutrition, lung cancer screenings and stroke awareness will be available.

Decatur UMC Pantry open first, third Thursdays

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. GFA Food Pantry open Tuesdays at Gentry AG church

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partnered with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs, and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies, are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointment. Lions Club meetings set in Gravette, Gentry

The Gravette Lions Club meets at noon, the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Tired Iron club meets third Tuesday of month

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria inside Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion, Post 25, meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services planned at Falling Springs church

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Museum seeks school yearbooks

The Gravette Historical Museum Commission is trying to acquire Gravette High School yearbooks to add to the museum's collection. Annuals are still needed for the years 1977, 1979, 1984, 1998 and 1999. Those willing to donate the above annuals are asked to call museum commissioner Lavon Stark at 479-787-5678.
