Gentry students do well in FBLA competition

GENTRY -- On Wednesday, Jan. 31, Gentry High School FBLA Students traveled to the Fayetteville Towne Center to compete in the District VII FBLA Competition. Eighteen Gentry students took part in the competition and placed in the top six, qualifying for state-level competition on April 8-9 in Little Rock.

The following students were district winners and will represent Gentry and compete in the State Leadership Conference in April.

Lynyrd Kave -- First place in Word Processing;

Miley McMillan -- First place in Electronic Career Portfolio;

Matthew Nance -- First place in Job Interview;

Paige Wood -- First place Insurance & Risk Management;

Luke Ernest -- Second place in Intro to Business Procedures;

Dalton Rody -- Second place in Cyber Security;

Katlyn Adams -- Third place in Business Law;

Samuel Lo -- Third place in Networking Concepts;

Sadie Parks -- Third place in Computer Problem Solving;

Emily Toland -- Third place in Computer Applications;

Lexi Harlan -- Fourth place in Journalism;

John Long -- Fourth place in Impromptu Speaking;

Alexis McCall -- Fourth place in Accounting I;

Brookley Trammell -- Fourth place in Healthcare Administration;

Makayla Case -- Fifth place in Business Communication;

Hailey Dapp -- Fifth place in Intro to Business Communication;

Chastery Fuamatu -- Sixth place in Business Calculations; and

Ashley Guess -- Sixth place in Advertising.

The chapter also received awards for fourth place in Largest Chapter Membership and second place in Largest Chapter Market Share.

Miley McMillan was also elected as District VII president and state vice president for the 2018-2019 school year. Miley McMillan is district treasurer for the 2017-2018 school year.

Gentry's FBLA had four national competitors this summer -- Derek German, Kyle Killgore, Clay Wills and Braden Rector.

Advisers for the GHS FBLA Chapter are Joni Wilson and Jennifer Ernest.
