Spaghetti supper fundraiser

A cake walk and spaghetti supper fundraiser will be held Friday, Feb. 23, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. The cake walk will begin at 5 p.m. and the spaghetti supper will follow immediately after the cake walk. Meals include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, drink and dessert. All proceeds go to the center's Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville.

"Have a Heart" campaign

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is conducting its "Have a Heart" campaign during the month of February. Funds are being collected to help give the gift of food to homebound seniors who might not otherwise be able to afford a meal. Persons may donate by mailing funds to Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center, P.O. Box 1648, Gravette, AR 72736, or by dropping them by the Center at 1870 Limekiln Road. According to the center, $15 will feed one senior for a week, $30 for two weeks. Meals are $3 each. Donors may specify a senior recipient if they choose.

'Breakfast with Heroes' pancake supper set Feb. 24

Gentry Fine Arts Department will be hosting a benefit all-you-can-eat pancake supper called "Breakfast with Heroes," from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Gentry High School Cafeteria. Tickets -- $5 per person in advance or $7 at the door -- are available from any theater or music student or from Casey Jones at [email protected]. Children under 3 eat free. Families are invited to come out to enjoy breakfast. Children may have their pictures taken with the school's superheroes. Money raised from the benefit will help support the high school's spring musical, "Musing from the Batcave." The spring musical is scheduled for Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m., with a meet and greet after the show; Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m.

Town hall meeting set for Decatur

Benton County officials will host a town hall meeting for local residents from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, at Decatur City Hall, 310 Maple Ave., in Decatur. County Judge Barry Moehring said he will make a brief presentation on roads, the proposed courts building and other issues, invite other elected officials to speak and then open the floor to questions and comments. The public is invited to attend.

NAGS to meet on Monday

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 South Main. Maylon T. Rice, board member of the Arkansas Historical Association, will present a program about its Quarterly in which research on every aspect of Arkansas history is published. Gentry planning annual chamber banquet

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant. Tickets are $25 each. Daddy-Daughter, Mother-Son Dances set in March

The Gentry junior high cheerleaders will be sponsoring the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance on March 3 and Mother-Son Dance on March 10 for children, kindergarten through the sixth grade. The cost is $15 for parent and child ($5 for each additional child) and money can be turned in at any Gentry campus office in an envelope marked "DANCE." The two dances will be held at the Gentry High School Cafeteria from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from Tahmara Coones ([email protected]) or Kaye Cripps ([email protected]). Gravette Church of God (Holiness)

The Church of God (Holiness), located at Fourth and Atlanta in Gravette, will be in revival March 6-11. The evangelist will be Ben Colburn from Bedford, Ind. Ben and his wife Sue will sing as well. Ben and Sue were in the evangelistic ministry and pastorate for many years. Though they are semi-retired, they continue involvement in ministry. AARP Driver's Safety Class set for March 9

Space is available for the AARP Driver's Safety Class on Friday, March 9, from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital's Classroom 1 at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members. Payments by cash or check are due the day of the class. Snacks and beverages provided. Classes are designed for drivers 55 and older. Completion of the course qualifies students for auto insurance discounts in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Those interested in signing up may call 479-215-3125.

Openings exist on Gravette library board

Three openings exist on the Gravette Public Library advisory board. Positions are for five-year terms. Applicants must live in the Gravette School District. The board meets monthly at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. Anyone interested in being considered for a position on the board should call library supervisor Karen Benson at 479-787-6955, visit the library at 119 Main Street S.E. or Gravette City Hall at 604 First Avenue S.E.

Free GED prep classes

Free classes to prepare people for taking the GED exam are being offered through May 11 at the Gravette Public Library. Classes will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evenings only, at the library, 119 Main Street S.E. Interested persons may enroll by calling 479-986-6911 or by attending the class. Classes are open enrollment. Students may start anytime and finish when they are ready.

Heart-to-Heart with Dr. Harp set for Feb. 21

Cardiac Risk Assessment is Feb. 22

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital's Healthy Community program will offer a free cardiac risk assessment to community members ages 18 and older from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22 inside SSRH's Classroom 2. The assessment will be by appointment only and will include personal history (age, gender, height, weight, etc.), oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure and body mass index. In addition to the assessment, information on heart health, diabetes, nutrition, lung cancer screenings and stroke awareness will be available.

Decatur UMC Pantry open first, third Thursdays

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. GFA Food Pantry open Tuesdays at Gentry AG church

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partnered with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs, and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies, are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointment. The Gravette Lions Club meets at noon, the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion, Post 25, meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services planned at Falling Springs church

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Museum seeks school yearbooks

The Gravette Historical Museum Commission is trying to acquire Gravette High School yearbooks to add to the museum's collection. Annuals are still needed for the years 1977, 1979, 1984, 1998 and 1999. Those willing to donate the above annuals are asked to call museum commissioner Lavon Stark at 479-787-5678.
