GRAVETTE -- A hearing for the expulsion of a high school student was held preceding the Feb. 19 meeting of the Gravette school board. Board members voted to expel the student for the rest of the 2017-2018 school year. The student will be allowed to attend summer school. A plan for counseling must be in place before the student is allowed to re-enroll in school. The reason for the expulsion was not released.

The board took action on two other recommendations for expulsion. Both are high school students. They are expelled for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year and for the fall semester of the 2018-2019 school year. Both students will be allowed to enroll in school in January 2019 but must have a negative drug test result before being allowed to re-enroll in school. The two expulsions were related to the school district's drug policy.
