Gentry, Prairie Grove split games on Friday

— The Lady Pioneers took lead early over the visiting Prairie Grove Tigers and never gave it up in their 55-46 win over the Tigers at Gentry High School on Friday night.

Gentry was up 15-10 after the first quarter and built on that lead each quarter for the win. Prairie Grove closed the gap to within five points once in the second half, but Gentry fought back and built its lead back up to nine points in the final quarter to take the win.

Hannah Boss led the Gentry girls in scoring with 21. Chastery Fuamatu had 13.

Emily Grant, of Prairie Grove, had 20.

On the boys' side, Prairie Grove dominated the game and took the win, 69 to 48.

Ethan Hammond scored 20 points in the game for Gentry.

Derek Pearson Jr. had 20 for Prairie Grove, and Will Pridmore, 19.

Prairie Grove was up 19-7 after the opening quarter and 32-23 by the half. Even though Gentry played its strongest quarter in the fourth, scoring 17 points, Prairie Grove picked up another 23 points in the final eight minutes of play to expand its lead and ensure a victory.
