Lady Bulldogs lose to Lady Saints

— The Decatur Lady Bulldogs found themselves on the losing side once again as they traveled to St. Paul to take on the Lady Saints in the second meeting this season between these two teams.

In an earlier contest at Peterson Gym in Decatur Jan. 5, the Lady Bulldogs pulled off its only conference win thus far by defeating the St Paul Lady Saints, 40-35.

The Lady Bulldogs kept pace with the Lady Saints in the first half and trailed by as much as five points. It was a different story in the second half as the Lady Saints took control and eventually won the contest by 24 points, 49-25.

Leading the Decatur Lady Bulldogs were Sammie Skaggs and Destiny Mejia, each with nine points, followed by Paige Vann with seven.

After the loss, the Lady Bulldogs were 5-12 overall and 1-5 going into the final seven games of the season before the 1A district playoffs in mid-February.

Decatur Lady Bulldogs are on the road Jan. 26 for another 5:30 p.m. conference game against the Lady Tigers at the high school gym in Lead Hill.
