GRAVETTE -- Hilarie Dodd, owner of Thairapy hair salon, is open for business at her new location. She recently moved her shop to 605 First Avenue N.W. The building, just south of Hillcrest Cemetery, was formerly home to the Hair Saloon. Business hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Dodd has spent several months completely redecorating the building, with the help of her husband, her mother and stepfather. They have put down new flooring, installed new electrical and plumbing fixtures and repainted and decorated the walls. A children's area with a chalkboard, crayons and books provides entertainment for young customers as they wait.

Heather Niefeld, another stylist, assists Dodd in the shop part-time and Shawnda Holland, a nail technician, assists customers in her room set up on the north side of the shop. Heather has seven years of experience in the Bella Vista Beauty Shop, and Shawnda has 19 years of experience, so both are well qualified to meet the needs of customers. Dodd's niece, Gabby, 15 and a student at Nutech High School in Rogers, will serve as a receptionist during the summer.

Dodd says walk-ins are welcome at any time or customers may call her for appointments at 479-644-9746 or contact her at [email protected]. Heather's phone number is 479-402-6833. Shawnda may be contacted at 479-220-2575.

An added feature at the Thairapy salon is a boutique area offering handcrafted jewelry by Tracy Linscott from the Old Spanish Treasure Cave and Paparazzi jewelry, handmade fizzing bath bombs and Pink Zebra wax warmer sprinkles. Recycled decorative wine bottles with handpainted scenes are another recent addition. Boutique items are a great way to treat oneself or may be used as gifts.

Dodd has planned an open house all day Saturday, Feb. 10, at Thairapy hair salon to celebrate the grand opening. She invites all in the area to drop by and visit her at her new location.
