Gravette Assembly of God sets VBS

Gravette Assembly of God Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 31 through Aug. 1 at the church, 1108 N.W. Main, about a mile west of downtown. This year's VBS will feature a baseball theme. Children will participate in some skits, and there will be singing, recreation and refreshments each evening. A bus will run from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m., and youngsters needing rides may call 479-212-4066 to be picked up.

Highfill First Baptist Church plans VBS

First Baptist Church of Highfill will hold its Vacation Bible School from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 8, through Friday, July 13. Babies through 12th-grade students are invited to attend. The church's family night will be on Friday night. All are welcome to join the congregation for fun, food and fellowship.

Gentry Farmers Market open

Gentry Farmers Market will be open on the south side of Gentry City Park on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through the summer. Call 479-736-2358 for more information.

Hybrid grill raffle underway

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Fitness Center is selling tickets for a chance to win a Member's Mark gas and charcoal hybrid grill with a searing side burner donated by Sam's Club. Tickets are $2 each and may be purchased at the Center, 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. The drawing will be held Friday, July 27. All proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels program that serves homebound seniors in the Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville areas.

Summer Reading set at Gentry Library

Libraries Rock is the theme of this year's summer reading program at Gentry Public Library. The program is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays through July 31 and will be held in the McKee Community Room at Gentry's library. Themes include Voice, July 10; Music Around the World, July 17; Music in Video Games, July 24; and a Wrap Party, July 31. The reading program will include guests, games and special projects. The final party will include games, music and prizes. Children may register at the library during regular library hours.

Sulphur Springs library seeks volunteers

The Sulphur Springs public library is seeking volunteers who can spend at least two to three hours (or more) working at the library. The library, at 213 Bush St., is open Monday and Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m., but hours could be expanded if more volunteers are secured. Anyone who can help is asked to call the library, 479-298-3753, and leave a message. Donations of DVDs are also being sought.

Library book sale

The Gravette Public Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at the former library building at 407 Charlotte Street S.E., just east of the city swimming pool. Selections will include a large variety of books, CDs and DVDs for all ages and interests. Single items will be sold at minimal prices or shoppers may fill a bag for $5.

Artists sought for Gravette Day show

Artists in a variety of media are being sought to display their works in an art show on Gravette Day, Saturday, Aug. 11. Any artists interested in entering artwork may contact the show organizer, Michael Kelley, 479-936-1424.

SSRH to host blood drive July 20

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will host a blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 20, in the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Bloodmobile at the SSRH parking lot -- 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. To be eligible to give blood, a donor must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo identification. CBCO offers the following tips to those planning to make a donation: Drink plenty of water or juice the night and morning before you donate; Eat a well-balanced meal around 2-3 hours before giving; Bring your photo ID which is required for all donors. AARP Driver's Safety Class is July 27

An AARP Driver's Safety Class will be 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27, inside Siloam Springs Regional Hospital's Classroom 1 at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members. Payments by cash or check are due the day of the class. Classes are designed for drivers 55 and older. Decatur UMC Pantry open first, third Thursdays

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. GFA Food Pantry open Tuesdays

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partners with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs, and meats as part of the only certified food bank in Gentry. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies, are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointment. Lions meetings set in Gravette, Gentry

The Gravette Lions Club meets at noon, the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Guests are welcome.

Tired Iron club meets third Tuesday of month

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria inside Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion, Post 25, meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month. Legion meetings will be held in the community meeting room at the Arvest Bank until the renovation of the civic center is complete. All veterans are welcome.

Singing services planned at Falling Springs church

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.
