Gravette Senior Center to host Coffee with a Cop

GRAVETTE -- The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Fitness Center will host its second Coffee with a Cop session at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 14. The first such event last September was very successful with Gravette police chief Chuck Skaggs telling participants about some of the workings of his department and answering questions from interested citizens.

Coffee with a Cop is designed to "build relationships one cup at a time" as police officers and community members discuss issues and learn more about each other. A representative of the Gravette Police Department will conduct the program.

The interactive session will be held at the center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. Free coffee and snacks will be provided for all who attend, according to center director Melissa Steele.

The Coffee with a Cop event is sponsored by the Benton County SALT Council, a volunteer group with the goal of reducing crime against senior citizens by providing education and interaction with law enforcement.
