Lions Club seeks foosball teams for exhibition play

GRAVETTE -- Work on the human foosball court, sponsored by the Gravette Lions Club, Cardinal Pawn and the city of Gravette, is progressing rapidly and completion is expected soon. Sponsors are planning a grand opening and dedication Saturday, June 30, in connection with the city's Independence Day celebration.

The Gravette field is the state's only permanent human foosball court. It is located on the northeast side of Pop Allum Park, just south of the skate park. Many people are unfamiliar with the sport since there have previously been no courts in the area on which to play. The game is a full-size version of the popular tabletop game. Two teams of six people must work together on sliding bars to kick a soccer ball through the goals.

Members of the Gravette Lions Club are inviting area school and church groups, sports teams and families to come and be a part of a series of exhibition games to be held beginning at 5 p.m. on the court's opening day, June 30, at Pop Allum Park. Anyone seeking additional information or interested in registering a team may call Jeff Davis, 479-787-1068, or email [email protected].
