Letter to the Editor

Editor,

Just wanted to say thanks to the Benton County deputy who stopped to assist me when my tire blew out on Arkansas Highway 59 north of Siloam Springs on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

I had moved off the highway as much as I could and still keep the left rear tire on the pavement to ensure solid jack placement. Having one of those "came with the vehicle jacks," I was lying on the ground to reach under the vehicle to operate the jack. I then noticed an SUV pull in behind me and a gentleman got out and offered to assist (which made me feel old for a minute).

I was grateful for the help because I was still on call to the hospital, which meant I could be called in at any time. So getting the tire changed ASAP was important.

The funny thing is, until I stood up to put my tools back in my trunk, I didn't know that the vehicle behind me was a county deputy's vehicle. I not only appreciate his help but also making the scene safer.

Anytime you're on the side of a busy road, it's dangerous. Whatever you're doing, try to face traffic and be aware of oncoming vehicles.

Thanks again to the BCSO deputy.
