Community forums to discuss Gravette school proposal

GRAVETTE -- A series of community forums is planned to inform area citizens about the Gravette School District's facilities proposal. Meetings will be held in four area towns where proposed projects, election and millage information will be discussed.

The first meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Highland's Crossing Community Room in Bella Vista. Other meetings will be held the following week, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at both the Hiwasse Community Room and the Maysville Community Room (old school) and at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the old Shiloh Church in Sulphur Springs. All area citizens are invited to attend one of the meetings to learn about the district's plans and ask any questions they might have.

The Gravette School District is proposing the construction of a gymnasium/safe room at Gravette High School, a career and tech center addition, a middle school renovation for technology classes and a remodel for safer entry and exit at Glenn Duffy Elementary School. The request for an increase of 2.5 new mills to the district's existing 37.2 millage rate will be voted on at the May 22 annual school election.

For additional information, contact school superintendent Richard Page at the school administration building, 609 Birmingham Street S.E., by calling 479-787-4100 or faxing 479-787-4108.
