DECATUR -- It is time once again for motorcycles from the four-state area and beyond to descend upon Decatur for the Ninth Annual Wyatt Hopkins Memorial Poker Run May 5.

The round-trip event will depart from the Decatur Fire Department at 9 a.m. (with the last riders leaving by 10 a.m.) and return to Decatur City Hall by 2 p.m., with lunch and award ceremony to follow at 2:30 p.m.

The Poker Run, sponsored by the Decatur Fire Department, raises money each year for the Arkansas Children's Hospital in memory of Wyatt Hopkins, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer nearly 10 years ago.

Seventy-five motorcycles from as far away as Minnesota took part in the one-day event in 2017. Bikes and trikes of all makes and models made the 50-mile round trip for charity.

There is a $20 fee for each rider and $10 for each passenger. The best hand receives $250, with the worst hand receiving $150. All proceeds go to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, which now has a new facility in Springdale.
