GRAVETTE -- Several Gravette police officers were recently recognized for receiving additional training or for their service to the department. Awards were given for Officer of the Year and Officer of the Quarter, and one officer graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Springdale.

After 13 weeks of training, Officer Bradley McNelly graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy on April 20. While attending the academy, Officer McNelly trained in firearms qualification, civil law, constitutional law, motor-vehicle accident training and much more. He came back to work on April 26 and rejoined his fellow Gravette officers.

"We are extremely proud of Officer McNelly and all he has accomplished in a small amount of time with the Gravette Police Department," said Mallory Weaver, administrative assistant to the mayor.

Detective Braxton Handle was awarded Officer of the Year for the Gravette Police Department. "Detective Handle works tirelessly for the Gravette Police Department," Weaver said. "When needed, he comes in on his time off and helps with investigations and patrol. Detective Handle is a great asset to the department."

Officer Aaron Ingle was chosen as the Officer of the Quarter by his peers. "Officer Ingle works very hard daily," Weaver reported. "He is an excellent report writer and deals well with the public. Officer Ingle is also a great asset to the Gravette Police Department."
