GRAVETTE -- The Benton County Sheriff's Office has announced that it has partnered with the Gravette Police Department to create a Community First Food Pantry. Both the Sheriff's Office and the local police department will maintain the pantry and assist in the drive to keep it filled by donations from the community.

The work detail has handcrafted an armoire designed to hold dry foods and canned goods, according to Shannon Jenkins, public information officer for BCSO. These dry and canned goods will be used as a "take some, leave some" pantry to feed the hungry.

"The Benton County Sheriff's Office has raised an abundance of dry/canned-food items and hygiene products by a friendly competition among shifts throughout the department," Shannon said.

The pantry is located at Thairapy Hair Salon on Highway 59, just south of Hillcrest Cemetery. A representative from each division assisted with stocking the pantry.
