DECATUR -- Thirty-nine students from Decatur Pre-K School celebrated the end of another school year with a graduation ceremony of their own in the cafeteria at Decatur Northside Elementary May 14.

Joyce Turnage's class presented a skit entitled "The Pickles and the Princesses." In the skit, evil dragons take control of an enchanted kingdom ruled by a good king who has three princesses. The king employs his good knights to vanquish the dragons but they run away, leaving the king without champions.

As it happens, the kingdom has three brave pickles who drive the dragons away. What was the pickles' reward for this deed? The three princesses. Everyone lived happily ever after.

Throughout the school year, Turnage taught her students a few sign language words which they were eager to share with the assembly. As Turnage said a word, her students responded with the sign language equivalent.

Rachel Duncan's class concluded the celebration with a pair of song and dance numbers, "Tooty Ta" and "Baby Shark," choreographed by Duncan.

Twenty-eight of the pre-K students will move to kindergarten at Northside Elementary in August.
