DECATUR -- The Decatur School Board had the opportunity to see the progress on the new middle school gym prior to its regular meeting May 21 in the media center at Decatur Middle School.

At the time of the meeting, the gym's roof and outside wall was about two-thirds complete. Barring any unforeseen delays, the structure is expected to be completely enclosed within three weeks.

Board members were able to get their first look at the new locker/safe room and the exterior walls of the gym.

The new complex is on schedule, with the completion date still set for the first week of August.

The Decatur Future Farmers of America chapter gave a presentation on parliamentary procedure with current chapter president Alisun Watson presiding. Cayden Bingham, Landon Watson, Paige Barrett, Isaiah McIver and Hunter Jackson gave a brief description of their function within the FFA group.

John Unger presented his year-end report on the Decatur sports program. Included in that report was an update on the status of the new eight-man football league that the Bulldogs will go to in September. Sheldon McKenzie and Toby Conrad will attend a meeting May 30 in Little Rock to work out details of the new program.
