GENTRY -- With temperatures hovering at the 50-degree mark and light rain falling, it wasn't the best night to be out trick or treating on Gentry's Main Street, but that didn't keep all the trick or treaters at home.
The Gentry Chamber of Commerce estimated about 650 children -- approximately half the usual number -- were out collecting sweet treats from merchants and businesses along Main Street.
Business owners and others made use of porches and awnings to keep dry as the youngsters, many sheltered under umbrellas carried by parents, paraded by holding out buckets and bags to gather the Halloween goodies.
And many of those passing out candies were in full costume as well, including staff at the library, the senior center and many of the businesses which participate in the annual event.
