Gentry's State Police drivers' testing site closing

The Arkansas State Police will conduct its last driver's test at the Gentry Public Library on Friday, Oct. 12. The last written test will be at 11 a.m., and no road or skills tests will be given that day. After many years in Gentry, this drivers' testing location is being moved to Prairie Grove in the Courts Building next to the Police Department.

Legion cookout,kids movie

Members of the John E. Tracy American Legion Post 25 will be having a cookout at Old Town Park in Gravette beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. A kids movie will be shown after the meal. All veterans and their families are invited to come and have a good time.

Library book sale

The Gravette Public Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the old library building, 407 Charlotte Street S.E. Books for all ages and interests, CDs and audiotapes will all be available at bargain prices or you may fill a whole bag of books for only $5. All proceeds will go for library programs.

Maysville craft sale

A craft sale will be held at the Maysville community building from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, featuring fun fall crafts and more. Vendors will offer unique country fair crafts, home decor, coffee and snacks, and essential oils. There will be gifts galore. Vendor space is available for $10 a booth. Governor's Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner

The annual Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner, with Governor Asa Hutchinson, will be held this year at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9,in the commons area at Gravette High School, 325 Lion Drive in Gravette. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ticket cost is $50 for general admission and $40 for Gravette School District tickets. Attire is business casual. Tickets may be obtained by going to bentoncountygop.org and purchasing through the Eventbrite app on the website or by calling 479-656-3301.

PSAT testing available

Juniors at Gravette High School will be given the opportunity to take the PSAT on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 8 a.m. The PSAT measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills. It is probably better known as the preliminary SAT and can be used as an indicator of how students will perform on the SAT. The PSAT is the National Merit Scholarship qualifier test for juniors. Sophomores will be allowed to also take the test for practice. The fee for the test is $16. Seating is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Miss Octoberfest Pageants set

The Miss Octoberfest Pageants will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Gentry High School Auditorium. They are sponsored by the Gentry Junior High Cheerleaders. The pageant is open to any and all participants, with age divisions from 0 months to 18 years of age, including divisions for boys from 0 months to 6 years of age. It is not required that participants be residents of Gentry. Applications will be available online at gentrypioneers.com website and contain information regarding times and fees. TOPS meet in Gentry

Gentry TOPS AR113, a non-profit group which promotes healthy weight loss, meets every Monday at the First Christian Church Fellowship Room, Second and Giles, with a weigh in at 2:15 p.m. and the meeting at 3 p.m. There is a small fee to join but the first meeting is free.

First Baptist Food Pantry open in Decatur

First Baptist Church, located at 213 E. Roller Avenue in Decatur, holds a community food pantry on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the church at 479-752-3514.

Decatur UMC Pantry open first, third Thursdays

The Decatur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and offers food boxes to Decatur residents. All that is needed is a valid identification, a utility bill or piece of mail showing an address in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also available is a USDA commodity program to residents of Decatur and other communities without a commodity program. The commodity program requires income information. White Cane Day

The Gravette Lions Club will hold their annual White Cane Day Saturday, Oct. 13. Tables will be set up at CV's Family Foods and at Gravette Dollar General where members will be accepting donations for their sight conservation work. All contributions will be appreciated.

GFA Food Pantry open Tuesdays

The GFA Food Pantry at the First Assembly of God in Gentry is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church partners with the NWA Food Bank and Rural Compassion to receive food to be given away, including canned goods, fresh vegetables, bread, milk and dairy products, eggs and meats. Other items such as toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products and baby supplies are also available as supplies last. Clients are asked to call for an appointment. Lions meetings set in Gravette, Gentry

The Gravette Lions Club meets at 12:15 p.m., the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Decatur VFW Post meets

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Guests are welcome.

Tired Iron club meets third Tuesday of month

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria inside Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion, Post 25, meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month. Legion meetings will be held in the fellowship hall at the United Methodist Church until the renovation of the civic center is complete. All veterans are welcome. Singing services planned at Falling Springs church

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.
