Benton County administration building security upgrades complete

The Benton County Administration Building has undergone a makeover in the last month. The lobby is now equipped with a metal detector and a bag check as people enter the building. This screening station is in line with the security of other downtown County buildings.

As the deadline to pay taxes on Oct. 15 approaches and early voting begins in late October, Benton County wanted to alert people of the new steps they will have to go through when entering the administration building. There is now an additional entrance door and an exit to the building, unlike the previous set up.

These protections are in response to a recent security assessment. The Benton County Quorum Court approved $60,000 for the remodel of the lobby earlier this year.
