Wednesday, October 10, 2018

GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Public Library will host an open house followed by "Moon Over Main Street," a star party, on Saturday, Oct. 20. Library doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for visitors to tour the library, visit the Maker Space lab and visit with local artist Michael Kelley, who will have some of his paintings of planets and constellations on display.

After sunset, the public is invited to view the night sky through telescopes provided by members of the Sugar Creek Astronomical Society who will be on hand to provide instruction and answer questions. The telescopes will be located on the north side of Main Street across from the library. Library staff will distribute complimentary star charts. Please bring a flashlight.

Sidewalk astronomy is a community outreach program of the Sugar Creek Astronomical Society and NWA Space. Oct. 20 is International Observe The Moon Night and this event is registered as an I0MN at moon.nasa.gov/observe.
