GENTRY -- Football captains this year were Garrett Hays and Peyton Wright. The 2018 Gentry homecoming queen was Danielle Spencer.

The captains and queen were announced during special ceremonies held in Pioneer Stadium Friday night before the homecoming game between Gentry and Green Forest, a game the Pioneers won by a score of 35-0 over the visiting Tigers.

The theme for the homecoming celebration was a game-board theme: "Gentry's Got Game." And the class maids and their escorts were introduced as they walked to their places on the field for the announcements.

Queen candidates were Whitly Cochran, escorted by Dylan Rayburn and Ayden Smartt; Laney Fredrick, escorted by Jackson Bolinger and Garrett Hays; Courtney McCollum, escorted by Kerlose Ruzek and Ross Wilmoth; Danielle Spencer, escorted by Devon Ellis and Rowdy Smith; Cha Chi Vang, escorted by Hunter Butler and Jamon Mathis; and Brentley Wade, escorted by Dylan Kilgore and Gavin Taylor.

Once in their places on the field, the announcements were made for 2018 homecoming captains and queen. The captains were presented with autographed footballs. The queen was decked with a royal robe and crown and was presented a bouquet of roses. She received the ceremonial kiss by the captains as the crowds cheered.

And then it was time for football!
