PEA RIDGE -- After defeating the Prairie Grove Lady Tigers earlier in the week, the Gravette Lady Lions were primed and ready to take on their next opponent, the Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks, at Blackhawk Gym in Pea Ridge Sept. 13. But the Lady Blackhawks had other plans when they took the court ready for the fight ahead.

Pea Ridge jumped out in front of Gravette, leading by as many as 10 points early in the first set. A quick time-out by Gravette Coach Brandi Varner turned the tide in the Lady Lions' favor as they fought back and closed the gap to five before the Lady Blackhawks went on a run. Pea Ridge took the first set, 25-20.

The Lady Lions would never come close to Pea Ridge again, losing the next two sets 25-15 and 25-15 and allowing the Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks to claim victory in three straight sets.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Lions played Prairie Grove at home in Gravette Sept. 11, where they had no problem winning the match in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-19.

The Gravette Lady Lions will return home Sept. 25 to take on the Huntsville Lady Eagles in the gym at Gravette High School. The games start at 4 p.m. with the junior high and junior varsity teams. The varsity game will follow.
